The scheme has two substations; the Kuratau Power Station substation and The Lines Company substation. The Kuratau Power Station substation is shared with the local network company The Lines Company. The site is owned by KCE. Internal to the switchyard is the substation structure where KCE's interface point to the network is located. All power lines from this substation are owned by The Lines Company. The Lines Company substation is owned by The Lines Company and used for distribution to the local area.

Environment and recreation

KCE work with DOC to ensure fish monitoring dives happen 3 times a year. The area of focus starts from the Powerhouse to 1km downstream. KCE recognise maintaining the weed growth around Kuratau Lake and wetlands is extremely important. An annual evaluation is done and following this the maintenance is contracted out to local plant pest contactors.

KCE provides and maintains a boat ramp on Lake Kuratau for all lake users. Access is through neighbouring farmland and users are expected to respect signs and notices.
