The Piriaka substation contains the transformers and switchgear for the generating plant. It is also the interface point between the power station and the network company to allow KCE to export its power.

Environment and recreation

KCE maintain the fish access pools around the canal loop and monitor river flow constantly. This area is a fishing hot spot, and they do their bit to keep the fish population healthy.

Kayakers in the area make use of one of the power stations tailraces to enter the river. This tailrace is where the water is discharged from the powerhouse and returned to the river.
