It will take place in the Collier Park Pavilion meeting room at Palmer all day from 11am to 8pm.

"We want to give local residents the maximum opportunity to attend so that can learn more about how wind farms really function and how they benefit the community," said Trustpower Business Development Manager Rodney Ahern.

"This is the only way they will be able to separate fact from fiction."

Mr Ahern said a group opposed to wind farms had claimed Trustpower had accepted an invitation to attend a meeting it had organised.

"This is a complete fiction," Mr Ahern said. "We have never been invited to attend any such meeting and therefore have no plans to attend.

"Instead, Trustpower will be holding well publicised community information meetings across the region to make sure as many people as possible have an opportunity to learn the real facts and discuss with us any issues they may have.

"This is the way we went about establishing our wind farm at Snowtown, which has been operating for several years and continues to have unqualified community support – so much so that we are now in the process of expanding it."

The proposed $700 million Palmer Wind Farm would produce up to 390 MW of renewable energy each year, which is enough to power more than 250,000 homes.

"We have already started community and stakeholder engagement activities to help shape the final project feasibility and design," Mr Ahern said. "We will ensure that interested and effected parties have every opportunity to find out more about the details of the project and provide valuable input into the final design."
