This event not only raised $20,000 for Lake Taupō Hospice, but provided a wonderful night of entertainment for the region. Creative Catwalk are a wonderful example of volunteers adding incredible amounts of value to society, in a fun and interactive way.
Creative Catwalk won the Supreme Award at the 2015 Trustpower Taupō District Community Awards.
The Awards were announced and presented tonight, Monday 7 September, at a function at the Great Lake Centre, Taupō.
For winning the Supreme Award, Creative Catwalk received a framed certificate, a trophy and $1,500 prize money. Creative Catwalk now has the opportunity to represent the district at the 2015 Trustpower National Community Awards, which are being held in Dunedin in March 2016.
Creative Catwalk (and all category winners) also received a $500 radio advertising voucher from local Trustpower Community Awards supporter The Hits, The Radio Network Taupō. This is exclusive to the Taupō District and it will allow category winners and the Supreme Winner to profile their groups to the community through the radio station.
In total, Trustpower has presented over $5,000 to various community groups through the night’s Awards, the sixteenth for the district.
Trustpower Community Relations Representative Kathlene Cook says Creative Catwalk is an incredible example of people being the change they want to see in their community.
“Volunteers undertook every aspect of this festive event. Clever fashion categories, such as Hospice Couture (where entrants need to buy items from the hospice shop and turn them into couture creations) or ‘Of the Lake’ (where designs a fuelled by Lake Taupō inspiration) showcase the volunteers connection with the Taupō community around them and an ability to tap into and enjoy their environment in a very intelligent way.
This event not only raised $20,000 for Lake Taupō Hospice, but provided a wonderful night of entertainment for the region. Creative Catwalk are a wonderful example of volunteers adding incredible amounts of value to society, in a fun and interactive way,” says Kathlene.
