Who owns TrustPower?

 

TrustPower is majority New Zealand owned with the majority of this ownership held by public investment groups, individuals and charitable trusts. See graph below for details. 

TrustPower has approximately 315 million shares on issue as well as $214 million worth of subordinated bonds maturing between December 2008 and March 2014.
TrustPower has two large shareholders and nearly 13,000 small parcel shareholders as well as 6200 bond holders.

Infratil Limited is a specialist investor in infrastructure and utility assets. Infratil is listed on the NZX and is a major stakeholder in airports in New Zealand and Europe as well as electricity and other investments in New Zealand and Australia. Infratil was a cornerstone shareholder in TrustPower on formation in 1994.

The Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust (TECT) is managed by 6 elected Trustees. The beneficiaries of TECT are electricity consumers with a TrustPower account situated in the territories which the former Tauranga Electric Power Board and Tauranga Electricity Limited supplied. In simple terms, this is the districts of the Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty Councils. TECT was a cornerstone shareholder in TrustPower on formation in 1994.
