Investor Information |
TrustPower is a publicly owned company listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX). TrustPower operates in the New Zealand electricity market as a generator and retailer of electricity. TrustPower also owns a 98MW wind farm in South Australia.
TrustPower generates electricity predominately from renewable energy sources and has a number of new potential renewable energy source developments in various stages of planning and development.
In 1993, following the Government’s restructuring of the electricity sector, TrustPower Limited was formed and began developing its generation and retailing business. In 1999, further market reforms made it necessary for TrustPower to choose between generation/retailing and distribution network ownership. TrustPower chose to focus on the former and exit distribution.
Shareholder wealth (being increasing share price and gross dividend yield) multiplied nearly 20 times in the 15 years following TrustPower’s listing on the NZX in April 1994. The National Business Review reported in December 2005 that TrustPower was the highest performing stock on the NZX for the preceding 10 years. Current market capitalisation places TrustPower in the top five New Zealand companies listed on the Exchange.
