Rotorua Lakeside Concert 2010 - Hollywood Goes to Vegas

The 2010 Rotorua Lakeside Concert was held on Saturday 30 January and what a concert!  TrustPower customer draw winners Terry and Glenis Thomas from Dunedin, and Ken and Pauline Millward from Saint Lawrence in Marlborough had a ball.  Fittingly there were numerous tributes to the late, great, Sir Howard Morrison.  Tim Beveridge is surely one of New Zealand’s most under-rated talents. He not only did a great job of putting the show together, but performed faultlessly. And his arrival by helicopter, complete with two lady “minders”, all to the sound of the Mission Impossible theme, was a great way to kick off a truly great night.

Star of the night; however, was Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, who not only had Rotorua’s youngsters crying out for more, but older folk equally as impressed. All night long we were treated to fabulous dancing girls in fantastic costumes, and the orchestra and backing band were simply superb.
Could it have been better – I doubt it. Did we have a great night – you bet!

TrustPower Santa Parade and Christmas Festival 2009

The 2009 TrustPower Santa Parade and Christmas Festival was held on Sunday 6 December. The Parade had a fantastic turn out with the main streets of Mount Maunganui packed with people enjoying the Parade.  After the Parade the fun continued with free activities until 4:00pm, including bouncy castles and a giant slide as well as plenty of family entertainment with bands such as Paul ‘n’ Penny, Harmony-A-Plenty and the Tauranga City Silver Band.  If you want to enter a float in the 2010 TrustPower Santa Parade - contact Mainstreet The Mount on 07 575 9911.

TrustPower Adventure Quest

Winter woollies were a necessity for this year's TrustPower Adventure Quest, held on the Corwn Range above Arrowtown on Sunday 4 October.  The event involves teams of two, and requires good teamwork, orienteering and problem solving.  After being postponed due to heavy snow on the Saturday, a slightly smaller field of 34 teams from all over New Zealand braved the cold on Sunday to compete.

TrustPower Lend A Hand Foundation - West Coast launch

TrustPower Lend A Hand Foundation Launch Sponsors of TrustPower West Coast Lend A Hand Foundation

In February 2009 the TrustPower West Coast Lend A Hand Foundation was officially launched in Greymouth and Westport. At the time of the launch 14 West Coast businesses had committed to support the Foundation either by providing funding or in-kind support. At the launch functions another five businesses signed up.

Jointly run by the three Rotary clubs, funding for the Foundation will come from fundraising, an annual grant from TrustPower and local business support.

The Foundation will provide a hand up, not a hand out, to those in need and TrustPower Community Relations Manager Graeme Purches says TrustPower is delighted to be part of an initiative which is going to empower individuals and organisations and support them to reach their goals.
