Notice of Regulatory Exemption

Electricity price regulations called 'Electricity (Low Fixed Charge Tariff Option for Domestic Consumers) Regulations 2004' came into effect on 1 October 2004. These regulations require retailers to offer a low fixed charge pricing option (which meets certain rules) to customers that meet the following criteria:
  • The property is the customers primary place of residence (excludes holiday homes, shearer's quarters, etc).
  • The property is not used for commercial activities.
  • The property is not used for club or society activities.

In addition to these criteria, further customer exclusions and exemptions to some of the pricing rules may be granted by The Minister of Energy under certain circumstances.
